Validation Is For Parking

There are opportunities, experiences and goals we’d like to accomplish we find ourselves missing out on. Things that seem out of reach or out of the norm we tend to scurry away from because we fear the possibility of failure. We tend to over extend ourselves, drop our boundaries and accommodate disrespect to people please or avoid opposition. Feelings of rejection, and other emotions that make us feel like an outsider or even worse, unworthy. Humans desire a sense of belonging, community, for people to understand and accept us for who we really are. But, how can we be embraced by our community if we do not offer ourselves our true authentic self?

Perception

How we perceive the world and ourselves is based on how we were raised, the schools we attend, churches we congregate, jobs we held and how we perceive ourselves. How others interact with us is based on their perception, their level of thinking, and consciousness. Perception is a belief or opinion based on how things seem.

A BELIEF OR OPINION BASED ON HOW THINGS SEEM.

How many times have you heard your name in someone’s mouth and the story you were attached to was false? How many times have you been called something that does not resonate with who you really are?

People’s perception of you is based on their own projection of how they view themselves and their world. It has absolutely nothing to do with you and quite frankly, it ain’t any of your damn business. So, with that being said MIND YOURS. Don’t let what someone said define who you are, that power does not belong to them. Take that sh*t back and redefine what it means to be you.

Who Are You

Who are you outside of other peoples perception of you? Who are you outside of your comparisons of other people? What is something you always wanted to share or say? What are you interested in? What is something that you’ve always wanted to do but felt like you were not ready to attain? What does your dream self look like?

Understanding who you are requires honest introspection and gratitude. Be vulnerable and transparent with yourself when trying to understand your thoughts, patterns, skills and opportunities to grow. Be grateful for where you are now even if it may not be where you want to be. When you express and practice gratitude, you are able to take care of what you do have and are able to attract more. With a positive mind, you can see clearly how you can use what you have to get to where you need to go.

Mind Your Damn Business

This one is gonna be hard for a lot of you who scroll through Instagram and compare yourself to other people, delete posts because it didn’t get enough likes or, feel pressured to post because everyone else is, and/or gossip with your friends about IG stories that have nothing to do with you.

What we see on social media are the “perfect” lives of people who post their highlight reels. You don’t know how these people make their living, how they’re loved by their family or community, if they have good credit, if their living situation is stable. All you are privy of are concoctions of memes and curations of peoples’ best work. For all you know it could be sh*t covered in gold and here you are pining over the idea that some how you aren’t “doing enough.”

Tough Pill: If you were doing enough you probably wouldn’t be comparing yourself to other people, and gossiping about it as much as you do. Especially about people who a) don’t think about you and b) don’t know you. All that time you wasted scrolling and comparing could’ve gotten you where you thought you’d be.

Self-Validation

To validate something means to confirm the legitimacy, soundness or accuracy of something. If you know exactly who you are outside of what others told you, the stories they spread and the mean things they may have said, then the only validation you need is yourself. Why are you allowing the fears of other people stop you from going after what it is you truly desire?
