Staycation: Gurney’s Montauk

Nothing says home away from home like a quick staycation at Gurney’s. For about $690 a night you can sneak away from the hustle and bustle of NYC and enjoy the waves at this Long Island Resort  & Seawater Spa. Just steps away from your room to the shore, you can feel refreshing ocean air and soft sand between your toes. Did I mention the spa, reimagined with the help of AIRE Ancient Baths creator Alonso Balaguer Designs. If you are looking for a retreat without traveling far, keep reading!

My first time at Gurney’s I rode in an SUV straight to Montauk. I highly recommend you do the same if you are someone who does not like driving long periods of time. To my surprise, the further east you are the less roads are available to commute so you need to leave early to avoid traffic. The beauty about this ride is the stark differences between towns on the island, after a certain point you can’t even believe you are still in New York. I highly recommend a long playlist, a podcast or even a movie to listen to as you ride to the other side.

Arriving at Montauk the views were amazing. The resort overlooks the beach and because I went during Spring I truly felt away from noise. The hotel room was an absolute dream, fully renovated with a large balcony and stellar view of the beach.

There are four dining options: Scarpetta Beach, Tillie’s, Jack’s Coffee and of course room service. Scarpetta Beach is phenomenal. To start I had the Seared Diver Scallops which is served with 2 scallops and were so buttery, light and super savory. For dinner, I had a squid ink linguini with lobster, and it was divine. The pasta was slightly sweetened by the buttery lobster and squid ink. I’ve literally dreamed about this dish ever since I had it. Yes, the service was amazing.

Tillie’s served up a great Cobb Salad.

And I had a wonderful massage at the spa. 10/10 would highly recommend it.
