Music Video Releases I Absolutely Loved

In a season where we should be loving each other, giving each  other grace and space to love freely; music has been toxic and divisive. To be fair, there was always hateful music but, specifically in R&B, music has been bitter, petty, dramatic and vengeful. Music is  very powerful in changing the subconscious response for emotional attributes. It is refreshing knowing that artists still value love in their work because we all need more of it. Everybody is bruised, everybody is playing on defense, and everybody wants to be seen, heard and loved. I think Stay by Alicia Keys ft. Lucky Daye captures the beauty of romantic relationships  and the video offers calming scenery so you can watch it before and after you weathered a storm. 

Olatunji – Engine Room The video is so  cute!  Olatunji really captured old school, steele pan, soca and blended it with the new school. It is so refreshing to hear SOCA not the resort, edm, American wash soca. This is saltfish and bake soca, oil roti soca, bottle beating soca. I love this song so much and the video is so fun spirited and tasteful. Soca is such a beautiful genre and I am so glad when artists keep the essence and soul of it. This was a 10/10 for me.

Yaksta – Alchemist  what a beautiful song about strength, overcoming obstacles, transmuting negative energy and alchemizing. In a world where people are suffering,  letting their failures bind them and enemies distract them, this song inspires and uplifts you to use the things that tried to break you as stepping stones to something better.  The scenery of Jamaica’s landscape, scenes of a farmer working and a dancer in white leaves imprints of optimism, growth and spiritual connections.  Such a good song and video. 10/10

PinkPantheress, Ice Spice – Boy’s A Liar The boys a liarrrrr, they boys a liarrrrr is so catchy. This song is such a hit PinkPantheress is going to have me check out her catalog after this little diddly. This video is so NY too and I love it. 

Rema – Holiday Anudda Banga! Ayeeeeee. His PEN. This song is such a vibe, the video is such a vibe, everything about it *chefs kiss*. This song is so fire. I’m really happy for him. 

Patoranking – Abobi  THIS RIGHT HERE. I can understand bits and pieces but from what I gathered, it tells the ails of violence within our communities and how much we suffer  because of it.  Though I can only stand some of it, someone who is watching this can get the general message Patoranking is trying to convey here. The visuals are very fire. The talent in Nigeria is UNLIMITED. Great story and styling here for sure. 10/10 for me. 

Ayra Starr – Sability  The dancing, the styling, the make-up, the song. This is a banger. I am in love, this is so fire. Elements of traditional dancing and black marching band. BYE. Youuu better repesent. 

Latto – Lottery ft. Lu Kala Oooo this is so cute! The song is such a fun little bop, Latto looks amazing. Lu Kala’s voice is so pretty too.
