Whew, last month of Q1, how are we feeling? I was very hopeful going into the New Year prioritizing rest and boom, life got very very busy. Working on maintaining a good balance of hard work and play has been my current challenge but, we move! Sundays are for cleaning and hair wash days for me and I have zero desire to do either, ha, but I will get it done. If you missed it I dropped some of my secrets to healthy hair and working on another list to follow up. Definitely let me know what’s been working for you!
In an effort to prioritize my mental health, I’ve been reducing my time on social media. To supplement scroll time, I’ve been doing lots more magazine and news reading, and watching silly and historical shows on Netflix.
Here’s What I’ve Been Binging on Netflix:
The Vince Staples Show
This show is hilarious. Great after work brain dump to get your mind off of your 9-5. This is the only silly show I’ve been watching, I fear… I need recommendations.
Cathedral of The Sea
Drama from the beginning. Pretty graphic and violent from the start. It would be helpful to read up a bit on the Spanish Inquisition to really gain some context as to what is happening. The English audio is available, thank God.
The following three are documentaries with drama and, they’re all really great in my opinion.
Alexander: Making of a God
Queen Cleopatra
Constantine
In the midst of the busyness, I’m actively choosing to remain grateful for my position despite its varying challenges. It’s so easy to reminisce on easier times and desire a future outcome when the current reality isn’t exactly what you’ve imagined it to be. One thing that I’ve been doing to become more grateful is walking myself down from overthinking. Overthinking and constant ruminating over things you can not control just takes away all the joy you could be having with things worth thinking about. Same with people, If I can’t directly control the thoughts, actions and perceptions of other people in a way that is favorable for me, I don’t want to waste another minute pondering on it, it’s beyond me to care.
Anyway, I hope everyone is having a restful weekend and enjoying the beautiful weather today. Is it a wash day for you too? What shows are you guys watching? How are you becoming more grateful this season? Let me know in the comments below :).

Just got off your live and.. just wow. Your writing is chefs kiss. I didn’t know until now that this is what I live forrr!
Aow! I’m so glad <3
Extremely relatable. I’m very fond of your writing. It’s warm and welcoming. You know how to connect with your audience on a personal level and that allows your points to get through even when they may be tough. I’ve been embracing the beauty of tough situations because I do believe there is beauty in everything. I also agree that it is important to take time and free your mind whether thats in a book, a show or YOUR blog. Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you oh so much for your comment Jahlani! What a lovely comment im so happy it connected. xo.
What a refreshing way to start my day. Thank you for sharing this. I relate to your thought on overthinking and pondering on things we cannot control. I try to reminded myself of where i am at the moment, what i could be doing, and to make my mind a happy place.
Also, my wash days are usually thursday nights because Thursdays are my Fridays (love fresh hair for the weekend) but i’m sure that will change when i implement some sort of consistent exercise routine. i like to think summer body’s can also be made in the spring if winter did not work out for me. lol
I am so happy you enjoyed this post. Agreed summer body’s can be made in the spring for sure!
